OROVILLE, Calif. - Bidwell Canyon Marina unveiled its new dock on 5/24.
According to the marina's general manager, Ben Johnson, plans for the new dock were in progress for years.
"It's a huge imporvement from our old dock. We have over 550 lineal feet of parking here. It's a huge upgrade The old dock was there for over 30 years. The boats have gotten larger and the dock stayed the same size," said Johnson.
Once the project was started, it took a few weeks to complete it.
Johnson says the dock features 75 feet long fingers, new cardlock gas pumps and new waste pumps for customers.
Johnson added the gas line is a triple wall marine gas line, part of a new code.
The dock is now made out of cement, instead of wood.
Johnson said they switched to concrete because it's not "easier on the feet and...not as hot as wood."
New LED lights makes the dock more safe at night as well.
