REDDING, Calif. - Four new community service officers are set to join the Redding Police Department thanks to funding approved by the city council.

The city will pay for two of the four community service officer positions this year. The next two will come on the next fiscal year.

The city is also providing money for the department to buy three new trucks and equipment for the community service officers.

The move comes after several city budget workshops focused on extra money to make this happen.
