REDDING, Calif. – With Disneyland closed, children may be missing their favorite Disney characters.
But one company is working to keep a smile on children’s faces during this uncertain time. Thanks to the company, “Dreams Come True Events,” children can interact with their favorite Disney princess through a cell phone.
Based in Redding, Dreams Come True Events is a group of dedicated performers. They are using their talent to help kids forget about everything going on right now and believe in something magical – even just for a moment.
Creative Director Michaela Duarte said they were planning to launch their company this month, but the coronavirus crisis set them back.
Duarte said now they’re doing free Facebook Live videos engaging with kids and personal facetime calls for a small fee.
“It's the best,” Duarte said. “I think the best part is that we can bring a sense of normalcy and a little bit of make-believe so that they're not thinking about the disease all the time and then take a break from all the bad news and do a little bit of good news.”
They also do storytime, sing-alongs, and arts and crafts activities with materials many have right inside their home. Individual facetimes are $15 for 20 minutes with a princess.
