REDDING, Calif. - New businesses are booming in REdding thanks to a boost in business licensing.
According to the city's website, there have been 1,313 new business licenses issued in the past fiscal year. The amount is up nearly 8 percent from the previous year.
If this trend continues, the city could see its best year for new businesses in six years.
"What it says to me is that people are really feeling good about where things are in this economy in the North State," said Jake Mangas, president of the Redding Chamber of Commerce. "That really should continue for the next couple of years at least and the chamber is going to do everything it can to extend this boom time for our local community."
Mangas said that the increase in the number of new businesses in the area has also lead to an increase in the number of jobs created.
