CHICO, Calif. - A reality competition show on Netflix is featuring a man from Butte County.
Bryant “Ikar” Wood, who is a native of Chico, is featured on the show called, “The Circle.”
The entire show is considered a “social experiment.” The contestants are isolated in their own apartments. They can only communicate with each other virtually through the computer program that is also called “The Circle.”
The contestants can be themselves or “catfish” their fellow contestants.
The players rate each other and the lowest-rated contestants are off the game.
Wood said, “It’s great! I got, like, 10,000 messages after “The Circle,” of people who reached out because they were going through something similar…”
“They felt represented in a way on TV that maybe they didn’t previously,” he explained. Wood said he believes the audience “felt the energy” behind what he was saying on the show.
“I’m excited to take this little boost, make a community around it, make a movement, and plant as many seeds as possible – and help as many people as I can while I’m on this earth,” he explained.
“The Circle” is one of the top 10 most-watched shows on Netflix. The prize for winning the contest is $100,000.
