CHICO, Calif. - Police are still searching for the suspect who killed a man at a Chico apartment complex Wednesday night.

People who live at the complex, Nord Gardens, told Action News Now, the whole neighborhood is on edge after the deadly shooting.

Chico Police Officers swarmed the area just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

Officers found a man lying in the parking lot and a 16-year-old who had been shot in the upper body.

Neighbors say they heard a huge argument before the shots were fired.

"People were flooding the scene, our neighbors were coming to us asking what happened and previously we heard a large argument about money," Bryce Williamson, one of the neighbors said. "I'm not sure what that was about or if it was related but there was a large argument right before and then everything unraveled and the cops showed up.

Williamson told Action News Now he was in the area when it happened.

"We didn't know if the suspect had been caught so we stayed home, we didn't know if he would come knocking on our door trying to hide or something. It's probably the scariest thing I've ever gone through," Williamson said.

Both victims were taken to Enloe Medical Center. 21-year-old, Joshua Elysee died from his wounds. Chico police said the 16-year-old was treated and released from the hospital on Wednesday night.

There is still no word about a possible motive.
