Free adoptions are taking place at Butte Humane Society this weekend, thanks to Subaru Chico. And Soggy Dog day, a dog park fundraiser at Shapiro Pool, made a big splash.

CHICO, Calif. - Lots of Chico dogs had the time of their lives on Saturday when the Chico Area Recreation District (CARD) hosted the 5th annual Soggy Dog Day.

For ten dollars, man's best friend got to spend 30 minutes inside Shapiro Pool. The fundraiser is an annual event.

The goal is to raise enough money to build a second dog park in Chico, which is something many dog owners support.

Meanwhile, Subaru Chico is trying to get all the homeless cats and dogs in the North State adopted.  The local dealership is paying all adoption fees this weekend at the Butte Humane Society.

"Everyone's been super psyched about this event. It's really a great opportunity for them," said  Adrianna Larson from the Butte Humane Society. "This really just gets them in here checking out the dogs."

At least nine adoptions have taken place since the event began. Larson said that's more adoptions than they usually get in a week. She was thrilled Subaru was helping so many dogs gain a new family.

A ridge of high pressure delivered beautiful weather to northern California on Friday. The weekend will also begin in a quiet and mild way, but changes including rain, snow and wind are coming over the next week.
