Olivehurst Shooting Suspect Succumbs to Injuries

At least 2 people are injured.

Olivehurst Calif.—According to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office the investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.

The suspected shooter 24 year old Sayer Stephen Daniels of Oroville was in critical condition for several days, but died on Sunday April 1st around 10 a.m. as a result of injuries from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Burhan Ahmed suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital following the shooting.
Toxicology reports remain pending for Daniels and Ahmed.

Olivehurst Calif.—According to the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office the homicide victim has been identified as 30 year old Burhan Ahmed of Sacramento.

The suspect shooter has been identified as 24 year old Sayer Stephen Daniels of Oroville.

Detectives have established that Daniels and Ahmed were acquaintances; however the extent of their relationship and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

UPDATE: 3/29/2018 3:48 p.m.

Olivehurst, Calif.—According to Yuba County Sheriff’s Officials one man chased another man on foot while firing a handgun.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in a commercial area on McGowan Parkway near Lindhurst High School.

The victim was hit by gunfire and then ran through the Dollar General store before going out the side door.

He later died at a Sacramento hospital.

According to authorities the suspect shot himself at the scene, and is in critical condition in the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities look into a motive, and the connection or relationship between the two men.

Update 3/28/2018 4:30 p.m.

Olivehurst, Calif. --  Yuba County Sheriffs now say there is no outstanding suspect. One of the two men shot is considered the suspect, and  he had a self inflicted gunshot wound. The initial victim, an adult male, has died of his injuries. The suspect, also an adult male, is in critical condition. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation. McGowan Pkwy west of Hwy 70 to George Ave remains closed.

Update 3/28/2018 1:55 p.m.

Olivehurst, Calif. --  two victims transported by ambulance; one to local hospital and one to a sacramento area hospital. School Lockdowns in area have been lifted. Mcgowan Parkway road closure at Hwy 70 and to the west remain in place while police process the crime scene. No suspect in custody at this time.

Olivehurst, Calif. -- The Yuba County Sheriff's Department investigating a shooting in a commercial area on the 1900 block of Mcgowan Parkway in Olivehurst.

It happened just before 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say two people are injured and it's possible there is a third gunshot victim, but that was unconfirmed as of 1:30 p.m.

Lindhurst High School was placed on lockdown as a PRECAUTION only, due to how close it is to the scene.

Sheriff's officials are asking people to stay away from the area, there are traffic restrictions in place.
