CHICO, Calif. - Hundreds of residents in North Chico spent a good part of their Mother's Day without power.
The power went out about 12 p.m. Sunday and was out in some areas for up to three hours.
A PG&E worker told Action News Now some mylar foil balloons came in contact with the powerlines at Garner lane and Porchlight Court.
The contact sparked a small fire and neighbors quickly worked together. Lori McDermott lives off of Garner Lane and said they used their hoses and shovels and got to work to put out the fire.
1,500 PG&E customers north of Eaton Road to Keefer Road lost power.
Most of the power was restored by 3 p.m.
