Mountain lion cub rescued from Zogg Fire

Cal Fire and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office rescued a baby mountain lion from the Zogg Fire zone.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - Cal Fire and the Shasta County Sheriff's Office rescued a baby mountain lion from the Zogg Fire zone.

The sheriff's office said the cub was found wandering all alone on Zogg Mine Road. They managed to safely capture the little guy and give him some food.

Officials said he is now safe and in the care of the California Department of Fish and Wildfire.

On Wednesday, the Redding Police Department and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife also worked together to help a bear who was injured during the Zogg Fire. The Redding department shared a post on Facebook highlighting the effort all the personnel made to help the bear.

The Zogg Fire grew less than 300 acres Wednesday night, and containment more than doubled. Cal fire reported Thursday morning the fire is now 55,303 acres and 26% contained. Click here to read the latest updates on the fire.
