OROVILLE, Calif. – A mother and son are in custody after police said they robbed an elderly woman at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville.
According to the butte county sheriff's office, 30-year-old Daniel Braziel, of Marysville, pushed the woman and used physical force to take her money and other property, after she had just won a significant amount of money. He then took off in a car.
Gold Country Casino staff provided surveillance video which captured portions of the robbery. Detectives were able to identify the woman driving the car as 49-year-old Regina Brito, of Marysville – the suspect's mother.
On Sept. 30, authorities got arrest warrants for Braziel and Brito. They also obtained a search warrant for a home located in Olivehurst. With the help of the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office, detectives said they located the vehicle Brito was driving during the robbery.
Both were arrested in Yuba County and the stolen property was recovered.
On the evening of Sept. 30, Braziel and Brito were booked into the Butte County Jail for felony counts of robbery and elder abuse. Braziel and Brito are scheduled to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court on Friday, October 2.
