More showers ahead for your mid week forecast

Light showers & lower snow levels are ahead for the middle of your work week.

You're going to want to keep your umbrella handy, and be prepared for travel impacts in the mountains over the next few days. Light showers have been tracking from Southwest to Northeast across Northern California overnight, and more are on the way over the next 36 hours. The majority of the showers have been in the mountains so far, and it looks like that's where most of the activity will be through Wednesday. There is a decent chance for some light showers in the valley, but only up to around a quarter of an inch from this system. Up to 3 quarters of an inch of precipitation will be possible in the mountains, and up to 6 inches of snow could fall along higher peaks. Snow levels are expected to be between 3000' to 4000' over the next couple of days. Lower elevation snow will bring potential for slick roads, and drivers are encouraged to give themselves plenty of extra time to get to where they're going.

Temperatures have dipped into the low to mid 40's in the valley overnight, and into the 20's to 30's in the mountains overnight. Winds are out of the Northeast up to 15mph, and will stay in that range through the day. The majority of the showers are expected to be in the mountains today, but some light valley showers will be possible. High temperatures are projected to end up in the low to mid 50's in the valley this afternoon, and in the mid 30's to mid 40's in the mountains. Showers will continue, and become somewhat more widespread on Wednesday. Most of the wet weather will wrap up by Wednesday night, and we'll be dry for the remainder of the week.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies, and valley highs in the mid 50's are ahead for your Thursday through Saturday. There will be a slight chance for showers returning on Sunday, but the latest models are hinting that that may hold off until Monday.
