Monument Fire forces Burnt Ranch to evacuate

The Burnt Ranch area is in a mandatory evacuation as the Monument Fire threatens the area.

BURNT RANCH, Calif. - The area of Burnt ranch has been upgraded to an evacuation order due to the Monument Fire, according to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said Highway 299 at Berg Rd. is closed.

People leaving the area should use caution as emergency vehicles will be assisting with evacuations, structure protection and fire suppression on the roads.

The Monument Fire is 53,019 acres and 3% contained.

There is an evacuation shelter at Shasta College in Redding and at the Mad River grange in Blue Lake, Calif.

Evacuation orders remain in place for:

  • Burnt Ranch
  • Junction City
  • Red Hill
  • Canyon Creek
  • Coopers Bar
  • Big Bar
  • Del Loma
  • Big Flat
  • Helena 
  • Cedar Flat
