UPDATE: 10:11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2020 – Crews say Montgomery St. and Miners Alley is back open after a gas leak prompted evacuations, Oroville Fire Deputy Chief, Chris Tenns, confirmed with Action News Now.

Oroville Fire crews responded to Montgomery St. and Miners Alley around 8:25 a.m. Thursday due to a main gas line rupture. Fire crews told surrounding businesses in the area to evacuate.

The gas line originated behind the old Miners Alley Brewing Co., now called Union Square, which is currently under construction.

Chief Tenns said construction crews were working in the back of Union Square, when they accidentally ruptured the main line that went into the business.

A daycare nearby was also evacuated. Oroville Fire blocked off two blocks around Myers St. to Bird St. down to Montgomery St.

There are currently no reported injuries.
