Missing Forest Ranch man and grandson safely located by Butte County Sheriff's Department

Mike Hernandez and his grandson went missing on the morning of Jan. 30 in the Forest Ranch/Magalia areas and were found in the Philbrook area by a BCSO helicopter on the morning of Jan. 31.

FOREST RANCH, Calif. – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office was actively looking for Forest Ranch resident Mike Hernandez, 58, and his 10-year-old grandson.

They went missing on the morning of Jan. 30 in the Forest Ranch/Magalia areas and were found in the Philbrook area by a BCSO helicopter on the morning of Jan. 31.

They went for a day trip and never returned which is what prompted family members to contact the Sheriff’s Office.

Both were safely located by Butte County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue personnel.
