CHICO, Calif. - The historic Miller Mansion on the Esplanade is once again up for sale.
Wayne Cook bought the mansion last fall, and has been working to restore it to its former glory. But Cook says he has terminal, Stage 4 cancer, and would like to sell it.
Cook has made hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of improvements already, as the mansion was in disrepair.
Cook says he hopes someone can purchase the property and turn it into a public events venue, so that the entire community can have the change to enjoy it.
The mansion is on the market for $1,550,000. Bill Chance Realty is handling the sale.
Cook told Action News Now reporter Cecile Juliette that there will be a brokers' tour of the mansion on Wednesday.
It is located at the intersection of the Esplanade and Cohasset.
The Chico Heritage Association told Action News Now that the property once belonged to Daniel Bidwell, the half-brother of John Bidwell.
When the original house burned down the property was bought by Roy Miller. He was part of the family that owned Miller's Market.
