CHICO, Calif. - The tenants of the historic Miller Mansion are gearing up to try and make Halloween special.
One tenant told Action News Now the main concern is preserving the historical integrity of the mansion.
"We are just making sure the artifacts we have been able to locate on the property are taken care of and preserved," said Wade Davis.
Wade Davis has lived on the property for about six months and says he wants to bring back some of the history for the people of Chico.
"There is a lot of history here and there's a lot of feelings from Chico is what I feel I just researched a lot of stuff and I know people miss a lot of things here and it should not be such a mystery," said Davis.
Davis is coloring the water in the main fountain red, with a dye that will not harm the fountain at all.
He also has a large pumpkin to make a scarecrow, but he said that is not all.
"There's just different things I found around the property, and utilization of a lot of materials, from the property," said Davis.
Davis also said some of the decorations were donated.
"Friends and I have got some different donations from different businesses that want to help," said Davis.
One girl who was visiting said she loves the decorations.
Davis says they are hoping to have the whole thing ready by October 27th.
Davis also said they would love to do a drive-by trick-or-treat event, but they need to know that is what the people of Chico would want.
