MARYSVILLE, Calif. - A suspect has been taken into Marsville Police's custody for their alleged involvement in a homicide on Jan 19th.
The suspect has been identified as Aurelio Reyes, a transient from Marysville.
On the day of the homicide, at around 5:51 p.m., MPD officers were dispatched to the Adventist Rideout Hospital Emergency room entrance to check up on a 29-year-old man who had been shot. Medical personnel on-site attempted to perform emergency medical treatment but the victim died due to his injuries.
Witnesses there during the crime told officers Reyes shot the victim with a rifle while on the Marysville Levee. Any possible motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
On Jan. 21st, MPD officers and detectives were informed Reyes was in an encampment north of the Marysville Cemetery. Reyes was found in a trailer and was taken into custody without incident.
Reyes has been booked for murder and assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody at the Yuba County Jail with a bail amount of one million dollars pending future court proceedings.
