According to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to an assault with a deadly weapon at the Manton Trailer Park in Manton on Sunday November 19th around 6 p.m.
Deputies contacted Mark Goss who had a large cut on his head. Goss told deputies that he was hit in the head with a bottle by Jeremy Maurer.
Michael Whitlock reported to deputies that he responded from his residence when he heard about the assault on Goss.
Whitlock said he saw Maurer trying to drive away from the scene and he attempted to stop him by following him. During the chase Maurer rammed the back of Whitlock’s car.
When Maurer tried to flee again Whitlock hit the passenger side of Maurer’s truck causing him to spin out.
Maurer declined medical attention, but complained of back pain from the accident.
Deputies contacted Maurer in his vehicle and Maurer’s story did not match the evidence and witness statements.
Maurer was arrested and booked into Tehama County Jail.
