Man stabbed in Chico park while walking his dog

A stabbing was reported Friday night just after 10 p.m. at a Chico park.

CHICO, Calif. - A stabbing was reported Friday night just after 10 p.m. in the area of DeGarmo Park on Leora Court in Chico.

Police arrived and said they discovered a man with a stab wound in his upper chest.

The victim told police an argument escalated into a physical fight where pepper spray was also used. The victim said he was walking his dog when the incident occurred.

Police said the victim described receiving a stab wound from the suspect during the fight. The victim was taken to a local hospital. His wound was non-life-threatening.

The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Brian Albert. Police contacted him at the park and he was detained without incident, according to Chico police.

Albert was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and was taken to the Butte County Jail.
