OROVILLE, Calif. – A man who was wanted for a felony warrant shot himself while being pursued by Butte County Sheriff’s officers at the Monument Hill Boat Launch in the Thermalito Afterbay in Oroville on Saturday, said a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Megan, McMann, said the man’s identity is not being revealed at this time, nor are the incidents that resulted in the federal warrant. This is because the investigation is ongoing.

McMann said a pursuit occurred at the boat launch, and the man took off running. She said he pulled a gun and then went between some vehicles before shooting himself.

McMann said the man was transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico. His condition is unknown at this time.

Quiet, beautiful and very warm weather for California today, but a lot of changes are coming over the next week. The first of several disturbances will approach on Tuesday, and it will lead to more wind, mainly mtn showers/t'storms, and a cooldown.
