OROVILLE, Calif. - An Oroville man is in the hospital after a collision Thursday morning on the northbound lane of Highway 70 around Garden Drive.

CHP Sgt. Cliff Morrison, said they got a call around 8:42 a.m. from a concerned driver who reported another driver was going over 100 miles per hour.

The driver was headed north on Highway 70, passing other drivers and then hit the center divide twice, and slammed into the bridge, according to Sgt. Morrison. The driver broke his femur in two places and is now in the hospital.

No one else was involved in the crash. Traffic opened back up in all directions as of 10:30 a.m.

CHP told Action News Now that based on how the man was driving, they believe he was under the influence.
