Man on post-release supervision arrested for meth and loaded gun

Redding police officers arrested a 50-year-old man after a traffic enforcement stop revealed meth and a loaded gun, the man was on post-release supervision.

REDDING, Calif. - Redding police officers arrested a 50-year-old man after a traffic enforcement stop revealed meth and a loaded gun.

Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop near the intersection of Riviera Drive and Mira Vista Court on Friday at 11:30 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle was contacted and identified as 50-year-old Jason Ricketts, of Almanor, officers said.

A records check revealed that Ricketts was on Post Release Community Supervision, and had previously been convicted of being in possession of a stolen vehicle.

During a search, Officers located approximately eight grams of suspected meth in Ricketts' pant pocket. A search of his car revealed a loaded Raven Arms 25 auto handgun that was concealed in the driver’s door, immediately accessible to him.

However, Ricketts is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to his previous felony conviction, officers said.

Ricketts was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
