KHSL – The violent sexual predator known as “Pirate” previously spotted in Redding has been arrested in Idaho for aggravated assault.
Police said Daniel Selovich, who legally changed his name to Pirate, is now behind bars after he burned a woman with a cigarette and scratched her back. According to court documents from Bannock County, Idaho, the victim said she met Pirate on a dating app and agreed to let him stay the night with her.
The victim said that she believed Pirate had recently come from the Salt Lake City area. She said Pirate checked online to see if there were any warrants for his arrest out of Utah, according to court documents, deputies contacted the Salt Lake City Police Department, who said that Private head-butted a woman multiple times at a Salt Lake motel on Nov. 6.
Law enforcement is seeking a “persistent violator” enhancement to the charges against him. Authorities located Pirate in Bannock County, Idaho and arrested him on Wednesday. He remains in the Bannock County Jail on $25,000 bail. According to investigators, if Pirate is convicted of felony aggravated battery, he could be ordered to spend up to 15 years in prison.
He faced charges of rape and kidnapping, however, he has either had those charges thrown out or had taken a plea deal to a lesser charge. Click Here to read more on Pirate's history.
