Man in Redding arrested after stealing car with dogs inside

Redding Police arrest a man who crashed a stolen vehicle with stolen dogs and a handgun inside.

REDDING, Calif. - California Highway Patrol arrested a man after a vehicle pursuit with a stolen vehicle ended with a crash on Inwood Dr. at 4:46 p.m. on Monday. 

Nicholas Michael Baragno, 29, of Chester had allegedly stolen a Nissan Maxima that had the engine running in the parking lot of the Food Maxx, according to the Redding Police Department.

The vehicle also had two dogs inside when Baragno drove off. 

After the crash, CHP and Redding Police officers arrested Baragno without incident.

Officers also found a stolen handgun on the floorboard of the vehicle.

He was booked into the Shasta County Jail on multiple felony charges.

The dogs were given back to their owner along with their vehicle.
