REDDING, Calif. - A man was ejected from his vehicle during a two-vehicle collision in Redding on Thursday morning, the Redding Police Department said.

The man was in a white 2012 Volkswagon Tiguan when he was ejected from the vehicle and suffered major injuries.

Shascom received a call at 6:55 a.m. about two vehicles on Rancho Road, east of Shasta View Drive in Redding.

The initial investigation determined the Volkswagon drifted into the eastbound lane on Rancho Road while traveling westbound.

A Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound and attempted to avoid the Volkswagon but was struck by the vehicle.

The Volkswagon continued westbound and went down an embankment where it rolled several times and ejected the male.

The collision is still under investigation as police said drugs appear to be a factor and the driver of the Volkswagon was arrested for driving under the influence causing bodily injury.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
