SUTTER COUNTY, Calif. - A man is dead after a fiery crash in the Yuba-Sutter area.

CHP said the man was driving without his headlights Thursday morning on Reclamation Road north of Tudor Road when he collided with a big rig that was passing a truck towing a boat.

The Yuba-Sutter Hazardous Materials Response Team was called out and the road was closed for hours because the big rig was hauling 20 tons of anhydrous ammonia.  The trailer did not rupture, and no ammonia leaked while it was transferred and removed from the area.

The driver of the big rig was not hurt. CHP said both he, and the driver of the truck hauling the boat, did not see the other truck because the headlights were off.

The name of the man who died has not been released.

Sunny skies and warming temperatures are ahead through Saturday. Temperatures will cool down on Sunday, and the potential for rain and snow showers will return to northern California Sunday afternoon. We'll stay cool with more showers looking likely next week!
