YUBA COUNTY, Calif. - A man died after he was driving at a high rate of speed, lost control and became trapped inside the vehicle that was on fire, according to California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials said a 2008 Infinity M35 was driving at a high rate of speed Tuesday around 7:02 a.m.

The driver, a 29-year-old Yuba City resident, was driving on Hammonton-Smartville Rd. east of Doolittle Dr.

Witnesses who were passed by the vehicle told CHP the driver was driving at about 65 to 70 mph when it passed them.

The driver of the Infinity then lost control while in a curve and began to spin out. The Infinity entered the westbound lane and the rear of the vehicle crashed into a Clark Pest Control F-150.

After the crash, the Infinity caught on fire and the driver was trapped in the vehicle. The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, died.

The identification of the driver has not been released.

The driver of the F-150, 53-year-old Darrell Drivon, complained of pain but did not go to the hospital.
