GERBER, Calif. – A man is accused of attempted murder following a stabbing in Gerber on Monday.
Monday around 9:12 a.m., authorities said they received a call from the El Camino Water District saying there was a person at their business who had been stabbed or shot.
Deputies arrived on scene and located the victim on the ground bleeding from a stab wound to his upper chest.
The victim and witnesses provided deputies with a vehicle description and name. A CHP officer was able to locate the vehicle and suspect on Windmill St. in Proberta.
The suspect, Perry Matthew Williams, was arrested and booked into Tehama County Jail for a charge of attempted murder.
Williams told deputies he went to speak to the victim, George Lopez, about an ongoing dispute when he was attacked and defended himself.
The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and is listed in serious but stable condition, TCSO said.
