COTTONWOOD, Calif. – More than 7 ½ ounces of methamphetamine were confiscated by Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies on Saturday after K9 Fritz sniffed a vehicle that had been stopped on Interstate 5 in the Cottonwood area for vehicle code violations.
The incident happened Saturday shortly before 3 p.m.
The driver of the Nissan Maxima was found to have a suspended driver’s license, according to deputies, who also said he was on Post Release Community Supervision for “prior sales of controlled substances.”
Joshua Darrel Ochoa was arrested and booked for possession of controlled substances for sale, PRCS violations, and for driving on a suspended license.
Deputies explained that $1,200 was discovered in the man’s possession in addition to the methamphetamine, which is what led them to believe that Ochoa was involved in the sales of controlled substances.
