CHICO, Calif. – A man was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and leaving the scene of two crashes on Saturday afternoon in South Chico.

At around 1:40 p.m., Chico police dispatch received several calls about a collision involving three vehicles near the intersection of Skyway and Bruce Road. It was described as a hit-and-run.

A white Honda Accord was involved, according to reports. Police said they learned later that the same Honda was involved in another hit-and-run incident on Skyway near Honey Run Road in the south Chico area.

The driver left both of the crash locations with a deployed airbag and heavy front-end damage, according to a police report.

At least one alert citizen provided police with a license plate number, making it possible to track down the driver.

Chico police officers said they went to the home at the same time Craig Campbell was driving his vehicle back home.

Campbell was given a medical clearance, said police, before his arrest for DUI and leaving the scene of two traffic collisions. He was taken to the Butte County Jail.

The first of two storms moved over northern California late last night and this morning, but our weather has quieted for now. More rain showers will fall Saturday, but heavier rain and snow with stronger wind arrives Sunday.
