Police: Man arrested for stabbing in South Chico, witness found with meth

Chico Police arrested a man after they say he stabbed a man around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 in South Chico.

UPDATE Nov. 9, 2019, 6:14 p.m., - Chico police have released the identity of the man accused of stabbing another man on Comanche Creek Saturday morning.

The stabbing suspect's name is Christian Joseph Seth Roberts of Chico.

Chico police officer Mark Bass says the victim positively identified Roberts as his attacker.

Roberts was found on the bikepath at the Midway of Comanche Creek

While police were searching for Roberts, officers contacted Janelle Pineda who was said to have witnessed the stabbing.

During questioning, Pineda got combatative with officers after she was told several times not to reach for a knife, she admittedly had in the small of her back, according to police.

Pineda was arrested for obstructing and delaying police.

Police say they found 14.5 grams of methamphetamine while they were searching her person.


CHICO, Calif. - Chico Police arrested a man after they say he stabbed a man around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 9 in South Chico.

Officials say they received a call about a stabbing victim who had walked into a business on Meyers Street.

After a quick response, Police got a statement from the victim and began searching for the suspect around Comanche Creek.

The search took about a half-hour before officials say they found the man who now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police are talking to witnesses and trying to learn the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.

The victim was taken to Enloe where he is being treated with non-life-threatening injuries.
