Transient arrested for downtown Chico robbery

Chico police have arrested a man they believe robbed someone in front of a Chico bank

CHICO, Calif. - A robbery occurred in downtown Chico Saturday afternoon on W. 3rd Street. The suspect was quickly arrested and taken to jail after police located him within just a few blocks of the crime scene.

The robbery occurred outside of a bank in the 200 block of West 3rd St. at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The victim said he was punched by the suspect who took some of his personal property. The victim was not seriously injured.

The victim and the assailant both walked down the street toward the Starbucks, where the victim stopped to call police. The victim said the suspect kept walking down the street.

Chico police quickly located their suspect, 26-year-old Jovontai Glaspie, between Broadway and Salem St. on West 3rd. Glaspie was arrested for the robbery and was booked into the Butte County Jail.
