OROVILLE, Calif. - Oroville Police arrested a man for the arson of a vehicle that is registered to a 57-year-old missing woman. The man is in custody and is a person of interest in her disappearance.
Police said this started on June 6, at 8 p.m., when the Oroville Fire Department responded to a reported vehicle fire located near Pine Street and Robinson Street, in the City of Oroville.
Through an investigation conducted at the scene, with the assistance of Cal Fire personnel, it was determined that the fire was started with the use of an accelerant and an arson investigation ensued.
Police say that on June 10, Oroville Police Department received a call reporting a missing person. Oroville Police Officers determined that the reported missing person, 57-year-old Vicky Cline, was the registered owner of the vehicle burned in the above-mentioned arson case.
Police say that due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding this case, an active investigation into her disappearance was initiated.
Oroville Police personnel say they identified a person of interest, 36-year-old Ryan Blinston, in the arson case and an arrest warrant was ultimately issued for Blinston’s arrest.
Oroville Police Department contacted Butte County Sheriff’s Office for assistance in locating Blinston. On June 14, Blinston was located and taken into custody.
According to police, Blinston was booked into the Butte County Jail for arson.
Oroville Police say they are continuing their investigation into the disappearance of Cline and are asking for help from the public. Blinston remains a person of interest.
