REDDING, Calif. - After he collided with several cars in an intersection, police say a 24-year-old was arrested on DUI charges in Redding.
Just after 2 p.m. on Dec. 19, police say they responded to a multiple car collision where multiple injuries were being reported at the intersection of Cypress Avenue and Churn Creek Road.
During an investigation, police say they learned River Smith was driving on Cypress Avenue when he ran a red light at Churn Creek Road and hit multiple vehicles traveling through the intersection.
Ultimately eight vehicles were involved with five people being injured and three of those were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Police say all were wearing seatbelts.
Smith was arrested for suspicion of felony driving under the influence of drugs, causing injury and booked into the Shasta County Jail.
