REDDING, Calif. - A man was arrested after stealing a vehicle that was left running while the owner entered a Circle K convenience store in Redding, according to Redding Police Department.

Officers responded to the parking lot of Circle K at 2245 Harnell Ave. after they received information about vehicle theft Tuesday at about 4:28 a.m.

Police said the victim left the vehicle running while he went into the store.

Officers were able to find the vehicle in the area of Shasta View Dr. and Highway 44.

The vehicle took off from officers for short time and exited Highway 44 onto Airport Rd. where it collided with a wire fence and an oak tree.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old Koby Bustillos of Redding.

Bustillos took off on foot from officers and was hiding in the brush nearby. When Bustillos refused to surrender, police used their K-9 and got Bustillos in custody.

Bustillos was booked into Shasta County Jail after receiving medical treatment at the hospital. He is facing multiple charges including evading, possession of a stolen vehicle and delaying or obstructing an officer.
