Man arraigned on assault of Chico taxi cab driver

A man believed to be in connection with a Sunday morning shots fired assault inside a taxi cab in Chico was in court today.

BUTTE, Calif.- A man believed to be in connection with the assault of a taxi cab driver Sunday morning in Chico was in court today at the Butte County Superior Court. 

Jose Huerta, 22, was arraigned on a felony assault charge and is not thought to be the gunman that morning, according to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey.

Victor Hernandez, 28, is believed to be the gunman. Hernandez was found dead on Lone Pine Ave. that morning and the cause of death is still pending an autopsy.

Huerta is next scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13 for his entry of plea. His bail is set at $500,000.
