UPDATE: Man Wanted for Questioning in Modoc County Arrested for Attempted Murder

The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating 44 year old Eugene David Bell.

ALTURAS, Calif.—On Wednesday May 23rd around 5 p.m. the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a physical assault.

When deputies arrived on scene they found Gerald Miller, age 64 with a severe head injury.

Miller told officers that after a verbal altercation with Eugene David Bell, Bell hit him in the head with a golf club.

Bell fled the scene before deputies arrived, however the alleged weapon used was recovered on scene.

Miller was transferred to an area hospital then later flown to another medical facility to be treated for his injuries.

On Thursday May 24th Sheriff’s Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Bell in connection to the assault.

Bell was found hiding out in a tent in a trailer park near the Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody.

Bell was booked into the Modoc County Jail on charges of attempted murder with a bail set at $500,000.

Bell is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds.

He has short brown hair and brown eyes.
