Butte Co. Sheriff's Office Identifies Pedestrian Killed on Highway 99

The Butte County Sheriff's Office has identified the man struck and killed by a car on Highway 99 early Thursday morning.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2018 - The Butte County Sheriff's Office has identified the man struck and killed by a car on Highway 99 early Thursday morning. 

Deputies say that David Houck, 54, of Corning, was walking along the northbound shoulder of Highway 99 when he jumped in front of an oncoming car. 

Investigators say that witnesses corroborated the driver's account and that the driver was not able to avoid hitting the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.

CANA, Calif.- California Highway Patrol has confirmed that a man died in a crash on Highway 99 near Hamilton Nord Highway in Cana, North of Chico.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
