Early Morning Shooting Near Oroville on Feathervale

A man was hospitalized after being shot twice in the leg early Tuesday morning, The suspects have been identified and are still on the loose.

UPDATE: 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2017 - Butte County Sheriff's Office officials are looking for the suspects that they believe were involved in an early morning shooting incident in a rural residential area near Oroville.

When deputies responded to the neighborhood on Feathervale Drive, they noticed a white Ford pickup truck that had crashed nearby in a ditch. They were able to determine that the truck was associated with one of the suspects in the shooting.

Investigators, who spoke to witnesses, believe the shooting followed a verbal argument. that started after two men allegedly showed up at the home. One of them was armed with a gun, and one with a knife, officials claim. 

During the argument two men showed up, the victim and his brother. After they got involved in the argument, the victim was shot in the leg, said officials with the Sheriff's Office.

The victim's brother took him to the hospital. Officials say his injuries are not life threatening.

The suspects fled the scene and are on the loose. Sheriff's deputies are searching for the, and say they know their identities. However, they are not released their names at this time.

Investigators believe the suspects were known to the victim. They are asking anyone who has information about the shooting to call the Butte County Sheriff's Office at (530) 538-7322.


OROVILLE, Calif. -- Butte County Sheriff's Deputies responded this morning at 6:50 a.m. to a report of gunshots going off in the residential area of Feathervale Drive. 

BCSO is investigating at this time, and while they have not indicated that they have a suspect or a location at which the victim was found, they do report that a man was shot twice in the leg and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
