Updated Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 - Michael Patrick O'Connell convicted of the murder of his roommate, Adam Mancebo, by a Shasta County jury on Friday, Oct. 16.

According to the Shasta County District Attorney's Office, the jury also convicted O'Connell of a special allegation involving intentially discharging a firearm causing the death of the roommate.

Authorities said on Feb. 6, 2019 O'Connell pounded on his roomate's door, telling him to leave the home immediately. According to the D.A., O'Connell had a shotgun in his hands at the time.

When Mancebo walked into the living room in his boxers he was shot in the chest, said authorities. O'Connell's mother had been sitting on the couch and witnessed the murder. She ran out of the house and called 9-1-1, said the District Attorney's Office.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 30, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. in Department 3 of the Shasta County Superior Court.

Tuesday was another sunny and unseasonably warm to hot day for much of northern California. It was much like Monday, except the wind was stronger, and the wind will be much stronger through much of the next week.
