Chico native, Greg Scott's song to be promoted by NBC for 2021 Olympics

Greg Scott, a singer/songwriter who was born in Chico will be featured on NBC's Songland on Monday night.

UPDATE: Tuesday, June 2, 2020 - Chico native, Greg Scott had a succesful evening on NBC's show, "Songland" Monday night.

During a workshop round of the show, Scott paired with another contestant, Anna Graceman, after judges felt that the song "Miracle" was unfinished.

Scott's song "Miracle" was then chosen by singer Bebe Rexha to be used by NBC to promote the Tokyo summer Olympic games.

The episode of Songland was taped before the coronavirus pandemic forced the 2020 games to be postponed. But "Miracle" will still be used in the promotion of the rescheduled 2021 summer Olympic games. Listen to more music from Greg Scott in the full story below.

CHICO, Calif. - A Chico native will soon be in the national spotlight. 

Greg Scott, a singer and songwriter from Chico will be featured on an episode of NBC's Songland on Monday night.

Scott sat down for a Zoom interview with reporter Kristian Lopez. "Chico was always kind of like my sounding board and how I grew as an artist," he said.

Scott was born and raised in Chico but moved to Los Angeles to follow his dreams, his parents still live here in town.

He attended Pleasant Valley High School and graduated in 2001. 

The show, "Songland" gives undiscovered songwriters a chance to create a hit.

"You'll see in the episode that we go into the studio, we work with producers, they rework the song and then you come out and re-perform the song," said Scott. 

His father Greg, says his son has been working hard for many years and he is extremely proud of how far he has come. 

His wife, Sarah, has also been there for him through it all. The couple has been married for 7 years and they have two children together, sons, Blaze and Jackson.

In the episode, Scott will perform his original song, "Miracle" for a panel of judges, including famous pop singer, Bebe Rexha.

Scott says he is thankful for all of the support from his hometown. 

"It's why we do this, why we pursue this dream and artform it's to share who you are and where you come from," said Scott. 

The "Songland" episode will air Monday night at 10 p.m.
