CHICO, Calif. - Action News Now spoke to the owner of Slater & Son Inc. Brandon Slater about why his company decided to donate $100,000 to start a fund with the North Valley Community Foundation.

Slater says he hopes others who can pitch in, will pitch in, to help long-standing, critical Chico businesses survive the Stay at Home Order.

Slater mentioned Bird in Hand and Collier Hardware, plus non-profits like the Boys & Girls' Club as a few of those businesses worthy of support.

He says while his business - construction - is considered critical, it's still feeling the impacts of this pandemic.
