Live theater returns to Butte College Friday

Students will be performing a variety of pieces that will be dramatic, comedic and improvised performances at Butte College.

OROVILLE, Calif. - Live theater is returning to Butte College as the Butte College Showcase opens on Friday.

The free event begins on Friday and will run through Nov. 7 at the Black Box Theatre in the Art Building on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

“It is all student-written,” said Florence Ives. “This is the first kind of showcase that we have done like this, I believe, at Butte College. The students have written comedic, dramatic songs and they’ve even choreographed a dance.”

Some of the featured scenes will include "Turmeric Turkey Bacon," "Men are Creepu," "Love From the Bench," "Alr;ght," "Group Therapy," "The Tomato Farmer," and "Interview With a Loser."

Students made a piece of varying dramatic, comedic, musical and improvised performances.
