WILTON, Calif. - Bubba the Butterball turkey was saved at the last minute, from becoming someone's dinner.
Bubba was genetically altered in order to gain weight. But he somehow escaped the slaughter.
He was discovered on a busy road, limping along. His finder was able to take him to Skywater Ranch in Wilton, California.
There he will be safe, according to ranch worker Stefanie Stewart. She said she took him in because it was Thanksgiving, and she has not had a domestic turkey at the ranch for a while.
"I may put little slippers on his feet for a while so he has some padding," Stewart said.
The ranch is home to lots of wildlife and waterfowl, and now, a domestic turkey named Bubba.
