North state politicians are saying "not so fast" when it comes to renewing a 50-year license for future Oroville dam operations.
Lawmakers, including Congressman Doug Lamalfa and State Assemblyman James Gallagher, say the federal government should at least know why the spillway failed last year before signing off on a new license.
Earlier this week, DWR sent a letter to the federal energy regulatory commission, urging the renewal of the dam's license, which lapsed 11 years ago.
In a statement release via twitter, assemblyman Gallagher said quote - "We want to review the forensic report on why this happened."
He went on to say the impacts of the spillway crisis need more study so everyone can understand how the dam will operate long-term.
