CHICO, Calif. - Chico law enforcement are searching for a bear spotted in Bidwell Park.  Reports of the bear came in around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Chico police dispatch said callers claimed to see the black bear roaming the grounds near the Chico Creek Nature Center.

The Bear was last spotted behind the Chico Creek Nature Center. Chico Police, Park Rangers, and Fish and Wildlife officers blocked some trails and scouted the area, but were unable to locate the bear.

Fish and Wildfire officials say recent fires may be pushing more wildlife, like bears, toward developed areas. Wildfire officers said they will stay in the area, so if there is another sighting, they will be able to respond quickly. Their goal would be to safely tranquilize and relocate the bear.
