Lakeland Fire contained near Lake Oroville

CAL FIRE said the Lakeland Fire burned five acres near Lakeland Boulevard near the Diversion Dam.

UPDATE 5:40 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 - There are hose lines surrounding the Lakeland Fire and it is considered to be contained with all forward progress stopped.

Firefighters with the CAL FIRE Butte Unit said 35 people having been working on the incident. They said it will take another four hours or so to clean up after the fire.

The cause of the Lakeland Fire is still under investigation. The fire burned five acres in total, after it started after 4 p.m. in the area of Lakeland Boulevard on the east side of the railroad tracks.

Any threats to structures have been mitigated.

All aircraft have been released and there are five engines still involved in the firefighting incident.

UPDATE 5:15 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 - Forward progress on the Lakeland Fire has been stopped. The fire was held at five acres in size. The location has been described by CAL FIRE Butte Unit as being above the Diversion Dam.

UPDATE 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019 - According to CAL FIRE officials there has been one air tanker drop on the Lakeland Fire. Crews on the ground are assessing whether forward progress on this fire has been stopped. Officials said Saturday at 5 p.m. that another air tanker is standing by in Chico in case it is needed.

Currently the fire is still five acres in size.

OROVILLE, Calif. - CAL FIRE Butte Unit firefighters are responding to a fire that started at appoximately 4:14 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019 on Lakeland Boulevard.

The Lakeland Fire has burned five acres and is moving at a moderate rate of speed.

We have a reporter on the way to the scene. It is located roughly halfway between Riverbend Park and Oroville Dam.
