REDDING, Calif. -Kool April Nites is a tradition that has been alive for many years in Redding. The organization behind Kool April Nites is a non-profit organization that presents a week-long public event for classic car enthusiasts in Redding every April. This year that week is running from April 21st to April 29th with over 50 classic car related events. Many people come from near and far to experience and show off their prized automobiles. Some even take the whole week off of work to head to as many events as possible. Jim Fallis, a competitor in the shows, tells us “Every year I come out and take a week off for this and it is just fun spending time with family and friends.” Many people take the competition for the best show cars very seriously. This year thousands of cars are expected to enter into the Friday and Saturday night events and on Sunday the best cars in town will be judged and awarded their honors. It’s not just about the cars, many of the events also have a charity element and according to Kool April Nites, they have raised over $50,000 for local charities. All together Kool April Nites will be as big a hit this year as previous and Action News Now will continue our coverage of Kool April Nites throughout the week.

July began on a seasonably hot note for northern California with plenty of sunshine, and fortunately very little wind. We'll have a minor cooling trend through Friday before more heat arrives for the holiday weekend.
