Action News Now caught up with some beginner 4h-ers this morning.

The kids competed in the showmanship category for 9 and 10-year-olds.

They were judged on how well their steers were groomed as well as their poise and control of the animals.

“This is my steer steak,” Abigail Fernandez of Cottonwood said. “I brought him here to fair to sell him and show him … I've had him since October 5 and I've been raising him for 18 months.”

Abigail's father said this is the first time she’s shown at the fair.

He says the money raised from the sale of the steer will go into a special savings fund for Abigail's college tuition

Staff at the fair say this is has been one of their busiest years so far with record visitors the last few days.
